I am a fan of the technique.
One useful way to train the mind to do one’s bidding is to practise Transcendental Meditation….The technique is simple but you should learn it from a teacher of TM….Several other benefits result from TM and I am a fan of the technique. Dr.William Reville, Ph.D., from The Irish Times
“I knew it was just wonderful”
It (Transcendental Meditation) definitely stops you shouting….Immediately I knew it was just wonderful…No matter what is going on in your life, you have this little oasis that you can go to twice a day, morning and evening, and you feel very real. Anne Grace, from The Irish Independent
“I can “wash” away all the stresses”
I have been practicing TM for over thirty years and never miss doing it twice a day. As a teacher I have found great benefit from it. At the end of the day I can ‘wash’ away all the stresses that I might have suffered during that day. I can say that the effect of the stresses and strains of everyday life get less and less over time with my practice of TM . Andrew Bradley
“calming, restful stillness into my life”
Juggling a busy career and studying full-time takes it’s toll on the body, mind and spirit. Transcendental Meditation has brought a calming, restful stillness into my life, which helps to keep me energised throughout the day. Harry Woods, Managing Director and Psychology student
“Neartaíonn sé gach gné den saol”
Is mór an cabhair atá faighte agam as TM le tamall de bhlianta. Neartaíonn sé gach gné den saol. Dá mhéid a fhéachaim isteach insan eolas atá curtha ar fáil dúinn ag Maharishi, is ea is mó mo mheas air. Ní eireoidh mé as macnamh TM go deo. Donal Hurley, Website Developer
TM is the very best thing I have ever done for myself. I learned it after a particularly demanding period of child-rearing. My husband and children noticed the improvements even before I did – I was calmer, more relaxed and contented. I still am. Aideen Taylor, Homemaker
“Its not a burden to do everyday”
The decision to learn TM has been my single most important decision next to choosing a partner in life. Through the practice of TM I have found a space within where I meet myself – an anchor within, my core, me! By simply practising TM, unbeknownst to myself, I am changing – rigidities and anxieties melt away being replaced by much more harmony and happiness (I wouldn’t have believed it possible). My decision-making ability has improved as well. It’s not a burden to do everyday; its not another item to add to the everlengthening list of a Mum – in fact, it’s a treat like strawberries and cream! If I give myself just that little bit of time each day, I can give so much more and everyone benefits – My life expands. Maurita Moore
“Not one day off work due to sickness”
I think it is more than coincidence that in the 20 years I’ve been practising TM regularly, I did not take one day off work due to sickness.” Pat Kelly, Retired Regional Sales Manager
“leaves me calm and connected”
I am a mother of 3 children and grandmother to two; I also work in the community with young people. I have been meditating for 14 years. It leaves me calm and connected with myself in order to communicate a warm and positive approach to family, friends, and the community where I live in Donegal. Bernie Fagan
“The effect on my life has been huge”
I heard about Transcendental Meditation when I was about 16 years old. From that time I could not wait to get the money together to go to India and get the instructions as to how to do it. In the early 90’s I saw an advertisement for TM in Ireland and it was like a dream come true. Learning was easy, getting the time to practise was not so easy but I was determined and for the past twenty years I have not missed a day.
The effect on my life has been huge and the benefits have helped me in personal relationships, business decisions and in my health.
In short, if every person was to practise Transcendental Meditation the world would be a much better place to live, as it would be calmer, much more loving and the human race would be better off by far.
If you are reading this, you are attracted to the subject and should trust that this attraction is real and has happened for a reason…so my recommendation is to make the best decision of your life, learn the technique and start practising now! Michael Herbert, retired MD of Windsor Motors
“Has enormous dignity”
“TM is very natural; it is holistic; it is safe; it’s effects are cumulative.Ultimately, what I like perhaps best of all, is that it represents a form of self-care. It has enormous dignity.” Dr.Michael Musgrave, MRCGP, General Practitioner UK
“Helps with treating hypertension”
Transcendental Meditation helps with treating hypertension. It is my experience that people with hypertension who learn TM not only feel better and happier, but their blood pressure is easier to control and I’ve been able to slowly reduce — and in a few cases even stop — their medication over time.”There’s no doubt that drugs have made a big impact on the treatment of coronary heart diseases, but still the greatest challenge is to find non-drug ways to help people improve their health habits, in terms of diet, exercise, smoking, in ways that will improve their health. Once people learn TM, we notice that they start to choose more healthy lifestyles and more healthy habits, and that they find it easier to give up smoking – and that alone would have a dramatic effect on heart disease. It’s very rare to find someone who practises TM regularly and still smokes. Dr Elizabeth Young, GP, London
“We know that Transcendental Meditation can reduce the level of persistent high blood pressure.” Dr.Risteard Mulcahy, Founder, Irish Heart Foundation, from ‘Beat Heart Disease’
“I have helped patients”
“In my own practice, as well as helping those with high blood pressure, I have helped patients with depression, migraine, …obesity and asthma, …by recommending that they learn TM.” Dr. David Lovell-Smith, from The Irish Examiner
“Gave me more stamina, less anxiety “
“I think TM can give people self-confidence, which is not based on arrogance or hubris….I felt it gave me more stamina, less anxiety and an ability to put life in perspective when things threaten to overcome you.(In TM)…You are taken to that part of consciousness where the stillness borders on subconsciousness. You ‘transcend’ thought while remaining alert. Breathing and pulse rate fall and levels of stress-related chemicals and hormones also decline, as does your blood pressure.” Dr. William Weir, from The Daily Telegraph
“The proof on athletic performance is here”
“TM can improve one’s physiological condition by increasing respiratory efficiency; improve recovery from physical exertion; and normalise weight. I would like to say to handballers, both young and old everywhere, that the proof of TM’s beneficial effects on athletic performance is here and should be valued as a positive addition to handball and other demanding sports.” John Coffee, from ‘Can TM Help Your Handball Game?’
“Has absolute healing benefits”
“I had all the western trouble of the psyche: anxiety, anger, stress, and fear – which all cause illness. Over the past 40 years I have experienced the way Transcendental Meditation has absolute healing benefits.” Donovan Leitch, Poet, singer
“…more energy, concentration, warmer towards other people”
“It [Transcendental Meditation] was by far the best thing I learned at Oxford. I suddenly had more energy, concentrated better and felt warmer towards other people. After meditating I feel calm, centred and ready to compete – but, more importantly, the technique allows me to \’just play\’ and enjoy the game without worrying about the result.” Jonathan Rowson, British Chess Champion
“to that place where truth dwells”
“When I meditate, I go to that place within me where truth dwells.” Dr. Mehmet Oz, TM meditator
“beidh tú níos sócúlaí, níos sástaí, níos eagraithe, níos foighní, agus níos pléisiúrtha”
Is mise Seán Ó Duibhir agus is mian liom cuir síos a dhéanamh ar an tionchar a bhí agus atá go leanúnach ag Machnamh Tarchéimnitheach ar mo shaol ó thosaigh mé á chleachtadh i mí na Nollag 2009. Is fear pósta mé, thar thrí scór bliain d’aois, athair cúigear clainne agus níor mheas mé ag am ar bith go raibh aon rud in easnamh i mo shaol. Sin ráite, tá sé soiléir do dhuine ar bith gur rud maith é 20 bomaite suamhnis a chleachtadh dhá uair gach lá. Is leis an smaoineamh sin a chuir mé suim i Machnamh Tarchéimnitheach san chéad áit agus níl faitíos ar bith orm a rá gurbh é cinneadh iontach fabhrach é a chuidigh go mór liom ó rinne mé é..Machnamh Tarchéimnitheach, caidé’n rud é? Bhal, ná bí ag dreim le soilseach agus toirneach, ná bí ag súil le athrú óllmhór i do shaol thar oíche.
Is é an rud atá in Machnamh Tarchéimnitheach nó 20 bomaite, dhá uair gach lá, i do shuí le do shúile druidte ag rá an mantra a fhaigheann tú ón mhúinteoir M.T. Má ní tú é sin, agus tá go leor a mbíonn deachracht acu an treor sin a leanstan, tá buntaisti móra i ndan duit agus na buntaistí ag meadú go leanúnach. Tar éis gach seisiún 20 bomaite leanann tú ar aghaidh ag déanamh mar a ní tú gach lá agus is le linn duit a bheith á dhéanamh sin a bheidh na hathruithe le tabhairt faoi deara. Go minic is iad do chairde a chí an difear níos mó nó thú fhéin.
Is iad seo a leanas na hathruithe atá i gceist agam; beidh tú níos sócúlaí, níos sástaí, níos eagraithe, níos foighní, agus níos pléisiúrtha. Ní bheidh an leibhéal céanna strus ort agus beidh cáilíocht do bheatha níos fearr. Beidh na tréimhsí maithe níos mó i réim seachas na hamanna nach mbíonn rudaí ag gabháil go maith.
De bhrí sin caithfhidh mé Machnamh Tarchéimnitheach a mholadh go mór.Seán Ó Duibhir, Coiscláidí, Bun Beag, Co. Dhún na nGall
Transcendental Meditation promotes stillness–and when you are still is the only time you can think, the only time you can focus. When you have distractions and noise in your mind, you can’t comprehend properly and you can’t do your job.Russell Simmons, Philanthropist, Entrepreneur, and a founder of Hip-Hop
“I can feel the stress unknot”
Ever since I started to meditate I feel my school work got easier, and I was selected to play for the county soccer team. I also wrote a book with my mother called ‘Abaleapo’.Doing TM makes me feel really calm and somtimes I can feel the stress unknot… I do my best to do it twice a day but some days I only do it once. I always feel better on the days I meditate twice.
I feel much happier since learning TM and that it has helped me a lot in lots of ways, and I think it will do the same for anyone else who learns. Ann Skelly, Student
“A lifelong gift”
It’s one of the few things anyone has ever given to me that means so much to me. For us, it came at a time when we were looking for something to stabilise us at the end of the crazy Sixties. It’s a lifelong gift. Paul McCartney, Musician
“Has been among the highest priorities in my life”
The practice of TM has been among the highest priorities in my life since I began to meditate 33 years ago…… As a calmer and more centered person, my prayerful reading of the sacred scriptures is more profound and rewarding. Deeper meaning seems to surface as I read the various passages of the books of the Holy Bible. The distress that comes with being a pastor in a Catholic parish in a 21st century urban setting in the mid-west of the USA, as well as just living in the modern world of instant communication is potentially debilitating. Regular practice of TM has proven to be an effective way of dissolving stress as well as an effortless way to slow me down. Father Leonard Dubi, Saint Victor Parish, Calumet City, USA
“A completely happy and enriched person”
Having practised TM and the TM Sidhi Programme for 27 years I find it hard to describe the magnitude of change it has brought to my life other than to say it has changed everything ; in a phrase perhaps it has made me a completely happy and enriched person enjoying all aspects of life. Derek Crampton, Businessman
“what fascinated me most of all were the spiritual changes”
“I myself learned the TM technique out of intellectual curiosity. Within weeks, I noticed that my digestive problems had abated considerably and that my compulsiveness towards work had waned. But what fascinated me most of all were the spiritual changes. For eight years previously, as a priest I had a semi-monastic lifestyle of regular prayer, formal meditation (reflection on Sacred Scripture), and frequent spiritual reading. And I was diligent in carrying out these duties, but rarely achieved that inner sense of peace and “being at one” that became so apparent when I started TM.” Fr. Diarmuid O’Murchu, MSC., Priest
“It has expanded my vision”
“TM is a relaxation technique that creates dynamism in my life. It has expanded my vision.” Liz Garrett, Sales Executive & Speech & Drama Teacher
